Sadly, the loss of a pet is an inevitable part of pet ownership. However, it is also heartbreaking and distressing to lose a much loved member of the family.
As a team, we often become close to you and your pets, having provided care and treatment for them during their lives. So it is at this time we want to ensure we make this process as simple and dignified as possible.
Grieving for a pet can follow a similar pattern to grieving for a human relation, it can feel as if the world has stopped and it is difficult to take in information or concentrate on tasks. Many people seek peace from the knowledge that they are having their pet cremated, with their ashes returned.
Often people haven’t really thought about the options they have for their beloved pet after their passing, so by providing some information here, we are hoping to make preparing for the situation a little easier. There are a few options available to you following the euthanasia of your pet:
- Home burial.
- Group cremation.
- Individual cremation, with return of ashes in either a carved casket, scatter pouch or urn.
Anybody at the surgery can provide you with advice regarding your options and any queries regarding costings, and some of our team have completed a Bereavement course to be able to provide extra support as needed.
